Mozilla master password reset to what12/25/2022 ![]() ![]() To do that, copy from the notepad the information that you orignally copied from the shortcut target. After you reset it, go back and change the target information in that shortcut back to what it was. The reset/Ok button is in the lower right of the screen. That should bring up a window asking if you want to reset the password. Open up Thunderbird using that shortcut that you just changed. Then copy: "thunderbird.exe -chrome chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul" into the target box where you just copied/cut the previous command. You might want to save it in case you close it by accident. Right click on one of your Thunderbird shortcuts and select "properties"-"shortcut tab"- Copy or cut the current information that is in the "Target" box and paste it into notepad, word, or whichever program you choose. ![]() I then downloaded and reinstalled Thunderbird - but found that it STILL asked for a PRIMARY PASSWORD!! We tried the nuclear option of creating a PRIMARY PASSWORD, but it still wouldn't accept it! So I tried to delete the PRIMARY PASSWORD.You have to change the target in one of your shortcuts, so it will bring up that screen. I wonder what can be done next? I suspect that some APP on his PC is the problem, but he has so many, and so little memory of what has been done that the task is very difficult! No matter what we did the PRIMARP PASSWORD box kept reappearing. I have spent the best part of two half days trying to deal with his problems without success. Since 22nd October he has been unable to use Thunderbird because it keeps demanding a PRIMARY PASSWORD. He has a 6 years old laptop with WIN 10 and uses Thunderbird as his email client. ![]() I am trying to help a friend who is beginning to suffer from Alzheimers. ![]()
